Tuesday sunrise

It was a Tuesday. Nothing special about it, which was exactly the point.

Sneha texted Anu at 9 pm: "Take leave tomorrow?" Anu replied with one word: "Where?" Sneha replied with none, just a sunrise emoji. By 4:30 am they were on Anu's scooter, two jackets each, heading north out of a city that was still asleep.

No birthday. No breakup to get over. No reel to shoot. They reached the top as the sky turned from grey to peach, sat on a cold rock with a flask of filter coffee, and watched the clouds roll below them like a quiet sea.

Anu took out her phone, then put it back. Some mornings don't need to be posted.

ಬರ್ತ್‌ಡೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಮರೀಬೇಕಾದ ಬ್ರೇಕಪ್ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಶೂಟ್ ಮಾಡೋ ರೀಲ್ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಆಕಾಶ ಬೂದು ಬಣ್ಣದಿಂದ ಪೀಚ್ ಬಣ್ಣಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರುಗೋ ಹೊತ್ತಿಗೆ ಮೇಲೆ ತಲುಪಿದ್ರು. ಒಂದು ತಣ್ಣನೆ ಬಂಡೆ ಮೇಲೆ ಫ್ಲಾಸ್ಕ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಫಿಲ್ಟರ್ ಕಾಫಿ ಹಿಡ್ಕೊಂಡು ಕೂತ್ರು, ಕೆಳಗೆ ಮೋಡಗಳು ಮೌನ ಸಮುದ್ರದ ತರ ತೇಲ್ತಿದ್ವು.

ಅನು ಫೋನ್ ತೆಗೆದ್ಲು, ಮತ್ತೆ ಒಳಗಿಟ್ಲು. ಕೆಲವು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆಗಳನ್ನ ಪೋಸ್ಟ್ ಮಾಡೋ ಅಗತ್ಯಾನೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.
