The terrace committee

Nobody remembers who named it the Terrace Committee. Five college friends, one rented flat in Jayanagar, and a standing meeting every Friday at sunset.

The rules are simple. Nobody spends more than a hundred rupees. Someone brings Amma's chakli, someone brings a borrowed speaker, someone always forgets the cups. The city is full of rooftop bars; they have their own rooftop, for free.

Fairy lights from last Deepavali, still up. A plastic chair with three legs that only Akash is allowed to sit on. Someone's mother calling to ask if they've eaten.

ಅಜೆಂಡಾ

ಒಂದನೇದು: ವಾಟರ್ ಟ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ಹಿಂದೆ ಸೂರ್ಯ ಮುಳುಗೋದು ನೋಡೋದು. ಎರಡನೇದು: ಈ ವರ್ಷದ ಬೆಸ್ಟ್ ಕನ್ನಡ ರ್‍ಯಾಪ್ ವರ್ಸ್ ಯಾವುದು ಅಂತ ಜಗಳ. ಮೂರನೇದು: ಕತ್ತಲಾದ್ಮೇಲೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಬರೋ ನಿಧಾನದ, ನಿಜವಾದ ಮಾತು. ಪ್ಲೇಸ್‌ಮೆಂಟ್, ಮನೆ, ಇನ್ನೂ ರಿಪ್ಲೈ ಮಾಡದ ಆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ.
