The biggest worry about buying perfume online is simple: you can't smell it. Here's how we'd choose if we were you.
1. Start with the moment, not the notes
Notes like bergamot or benzoin mean little until you smell them. A moment means something straight away. Ask yourself which story feels like yours: an evening ride (Ee Sanje), a look across a crowd (Kannalle Kathe), a first hug (Yen Maaye Idu), loving someone for no reason (Haage Summane) or the day you won the world (Zabardast).
2. Then check the scent family
Fresh if you like citrus and clean air: Ee Sanje. Floral if you like rose, jasmine and orange blossom: Kannalle Kathe and Yen Maaye Idu. Gourmand if you love vanilla and tonka sweetness: Zabardast. Warm if you like soft, cosy, woody scents: Haage Summane and Gandhada Gani.
3. Think about when you'll wear it
Office to evening? Go fresh. Dates and special nights? Floral. Festivals and weddings? Gourmand. Every day, just for you? Warm.
4. Still unsure? Let us match you
Our Find your story quiz takes a minute and suggests one kathe. Or try them all with the Kathe Pustaka discovery set: wear one each day and see which one stays with you.
5. Give it a day
A perfume changes on your skin. The first spray is the top notes; the heart opens in about half an hour; the base is what stays into the evening. Judge it after a few hours, not a few seconds.
